Hina-ningyo (Hina dolls) are traditional Japanese dolls displayed during the Hinamatsuri festival, also known as Girls’ Day, which is celebrated on March 3rd.
The dolls represent the imperial court, with the emperor, empress, attendants, and musicians arranged on a tiered platform. The display is meant to bring good fortune and health to girls, and it’s believed that setting up and taking down the dolls at the right time will ensure a happy and prosperous future for the daughters in the family.
